14-Year-Old Pop Sensation Shannon K Takes on Teen Hypocrisy in 'Mirror Girl'

Mirror Girl,” the newest pop rock single from teen singing sensation Shannon K. Influenced by Taylor Swift, Adele, and Rihanna and featuring lyrics that reflect a maturity beyond her fourteen years, Shannon K is the daughter of Bollywood legend singer Kumar Sanu. She has been featured as the artist of the week on BBC UK London and has collaborated with producer Steven A. Williams (Britney Spears), producer Andy Whitmore, and film director William Steel.

Shannon K was born in India and moved to London, England at the age of six. She began learning music at the age of three and studied at the Royal Music Of London until grade 5. Shannon K kicked off her career at the age of twelve with her debut single “Roll Back The Years.”

The multi-talented teen continues to work on her voice and music while living in New York with her mother. Her father, Kumar Sanu, has enjoyed an illustrious career as a Bollywood vocalist, winning a total of sixty-nine Indian and international awards. Shannon K is well aware of her good fortune in having a family that supports her music career.

Shannon K is inspired by life’s everyday events, and enjoys writing songs that touch on a wide range of emotions. According to Shannon K, “Mirror Girl” is the product of the two facedness often seen among teens: “I wrote the song about people who say they are going to do one thing, but end up doing another.”
