Boulder, Colorado

In 1858, European gold prospectors arrived in the Boulder, Colorado area. Subsequently, the "Boulder City Town Company" was founded in 1859. However, Boulder City wasn’t officially incorporated until 1871. Organized “by A.A. Brookfield, the first president of Boulder City, and 56 shareholders, four thousand forty-four lots were laid out at a purchase price of $1,000 each, a price that was later lowered in order to attract more residents.” By 1873 the railroad reached Boulder, Colorado, eventually providing service to Denver and the mining towns to the west.
