Andros Island, Bahamas
The name Andros Island, Bahamas is derived from the Greek word for andras, meaning "man". Andros is also a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. There is an additional theory that Andos Island may have been named for the peoples of St. Andro Island, the Mosquito Coast, who settled on Andros in 1787.
