Pamplona, Spain
During the winter of 75–74 BC, the area of Pamplona, Spain became a military camp for General Pompey of Rome (106 BC–48 BC), who was at war with fellow Roman statesman and general, Quintus Sertorius (c.123 BC-72 BC). General Pompey is considered the founder of the city of Pompaelo, which evolved to be known as Pamplona. Of course, Pamplona is most famous for hosting the Fiesta de San Fermín each July, and the main event - the running of the Pamplona bulls!
