Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem- “the city of peace," was declared the capital of Israel in 1980, however most members of the United Nations still recognize Tel Aviv as the venue for diplomatic relations. The oldest area of the city was established around the 4th millennium BC, and UNESCO has designated the old walled city a World Heritage Site. Today, Jerusalem's eminence on the international cultural stage is evidenced by great urban institutions such as the Israel Museum and the Jerusalem Center for the Performing Arts.
