Cardiff, Wales
Officially declared a city in 1905, and proclaimed the capital of Wales in 1955 – today, Cardiff, South Wales is an exciting center for culture and industry in the United Kingdom. Named in reference to a local Roman fort that was established in 55 AD, both Caerdydd, the Welsh name of the city, and the anglicized form-‘Cardiff’, derived from post-Roman Brythonic words meaning "the fort on the Taff.” "Dydd" or "Diff" are both modifications of "Taff," the river that Cardiff Castle, a medieval castle and Victorian architecture Gothic revival mansion, still stands.
