Santa Ynez Valley, California, located in beautiful Santa Barbara County, is comprised of the towns of Solvang, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Buellton, and Ballard, and has over 70 wineries and tasting rooms for visitors enjoy. Mission Santa Inés (sometimes spelled Santa Ynez) was founded on September 17, 1804 by Father Estévan Tapís of the Franciscan order. Saint Agnes (Santa Inés) is the special patroness of bodily purity and chastity, and was a beautiful young Roman girl who had accepted Christianity early in life. In 304 AD Agnes was beheaded, and became one of the best known and most widely honored of the early Roman martyrs.
