Vail, Colorado
The town of Vail, Colorado was named for the famed Vail Ski Resort. While stationed at Camp Hail, Colorado, Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton discovered the perfect summit for a North America ski resort, and dubbed the summit "No-name Mountain.” Vail was eventually named for Charles Vail, designer of the valley’s only highway. The town of Vail, Colorado was officially established in 1966, just four years after the opening of Vail Ski Resort.
