Scottsdale, Arizona
As early as 300 BC, Hokoham Indians populated the area of Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1888, Winfield Scott, a United States Army Chaplain, purchased the land now known as Scottsdale for only two dollars and fifty cents an acre. Scott's new town was initially named Orangedale, but renamed Scottsdale, Arizona in 1894.
