Colorado Springs, Colorado
In 1871, General William Palmer founded Colorado Springs, Colorado. General Palmer’s ultimate goal was to create a luxury resort community in the grand, majestic Rocky Mountains. In the 1800s, General Palmer saw Colorado Springs successfully develop into one of the most popular travel destinations of the day, earning the nickname "Little London", because of the many English tourists who enjoyed the dry climate and resort atmosphere.
