McCall, Idaho
Although the Native American tribes of Nez Perce and Tukuaduka Shoshone occupied the land of McCall, Idaho in the summers, both left during the long and severe winters. In 1890, Thomas and Louisa McCall traded a team of horses, for a cabin and 160 acres of land, establishing the first permanent settlement in the region. Tom McCall is also credited with the founding of McCall’s first school, hotel, and post office.
