Lord Howe Island, Australia
Lord Howe Island, Australia, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, was named for Richard Howe, 1st Earl Howe (1726-1799). Richard Howe was the First Lord of Admiralty, also known as Lord Howe, in the British Royal Navy. Lord Howe was known as a just and respected leader and was popular with the British sailors, whom he led during both the American and French Revolution.
