Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles, California, also known as The City of Angels, was first settled by the Tongva and Chumash Native American tribes thousands of years ago. In 1769, Spaniards Gaspar de Portola, and Juan Crespí, a Franciscan missionary, established the first European settlement. And in 1781, Los Angeles was officially founded by Governor Felipe de Neve as "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de la Porciúncula" or The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of Porziuncola.
