Cannes, France
In 1035, the name Cannes, Frances first appeared on an official document. There are numerous theories surrounding the origins of the name Cannes. However, the most plausible premise is credited to the abundant reeds, or “cannae”, which surrounded the early settlement. In fact, throughout the 10th century, the town of Cannes was known as Canua.
