Vienna, Austria
Although the precise meaning of Vienna, Austria’s name has often been debated, it is most commonly believed to have Celtic origins, as the city was initially settled by the Celts circa 500 BC. Many historians think the name Vienna is derived from the word Vedunia, or "forest stream." Still, others assert that Vienna comes from the name of the Roman settlement Vindobona, or "white bottom."
