Guysborough, Canada
Guysborough is a community, as well as a county, located in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. In 1836, Guysborough was named in honor of Sir Guy Carleton (1724-1808), the 1st Baron Dorchester. Sir Carleton was an Irish-British soldier who served as Governor of the Province of Quebec from 1768-78. Of greatest historical importance, Sir Carleton successfully commanded the British troops in the American Revolutionary War; defending Quebec during the 1775-76 American invasion, and then in 1782-83, becoming the Chief Commander of the British forces in North America.
