Boston, Massachusetts
In 1630, Boston, Massachusetts was founded by English Puritan colonists. As early as 5,000 BC, the Boston area was home to several Native American tribes, such as the Wampanoag. On record, Boston’s early European settlers first called the area “Trimountaine”. The historical town was then renamed after the small port village of Boston, Lincolnshire, on the east coast of England; the former home of several distinguished Boston colonists.
