Kat Edmonson: Austin, Texas
Austin, Texas’s Kat Edmonson has been dubbed a jazz phenomenon by the who’s who of the music industry and music critics alike. As a young ingenue in the world of music, Kat’s unique voice has earned her comparisons from Bjork to Billie Holiday and back again. There is no doubt, her unique blending of unforgettable, smoky and sexy jazz standards and her distinctive ultra-modern indie pop sensibility makes Kat more than just a jazz singer - she is an artist to be followed. In 2009, Kat’s infectious single “Lucky” was introduced internationally on Steven Spielberg’s hit Showtime program, “The United States of Tara.” Kat’s debut album Take to the Sky was released to stellar reviews. Filled with “reinterpreted jazz standards and re-envisioned pop hits” like The Cure's "Just Like Heaven,” each song stars Edmonson's coquettish, yet sophisticated voice, and features guest appearances from renowned jazz musicians, such as Grammy-winning bassist Eric Revis.
