The Concierge Questionnaire: Michelle Harris,  Host

What is your favorite word to describe Los Angeles? Vibrant.

What word best reflects the people of Los Angeles? Hip.

What is the most creative, spiritual or emotional place in Los Angeles? One of my favorite places is the gardens at the Self Realization Fellowship. With swans swimming, beautiful flowers and greenery, meditation chapels and shrines to all the worlds’ religions, these gardens are a must for locals and visitors of every faith. It is a very serene and special place and after walking the gardens I always feel rejuvenated.

Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine Temple: 17190 Sunset Boulevard, Pacific Palisades
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9am-4:30pm and Sunday 12:30pm-4:30pm

What is your favorite outdoor activity in Los Angeles? Because of L.A.’s great climate, you can do anything from surfing to biking and hiking. We also have some great architecture and an abundance of green building going on right now. Many times tours are available of some of these types of homes. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

What is your favorite indoor activity in Los Angeles? L.A. has some of the best restaurants in the country! Some of my favorites lean toward healthy and organic cuisine such as Real Food Daily, Newsroom Cafe, and M Café, which serves a macrobiotic menu.

Real Food Daily has two locations in the Los Angels area.
Please visit Real Food Daily for restaurant locations, hours, and delivery information.

Newsroom Cafe: 120 N Robertson Boulevard
Hours: Monday 8am-9pm, Tuesday-Thursday 8am-9:30pm, Friday 8am-10pm, Saturday 9am-10pm and Sunday 9am-9:30pm

M Café has three Los Angeles area locations.
Please visit M Café for restaurant locations, hours, and delivery information.

What is your favorite sound or noise in Los Angeles? My favorite sound is when the city is quiet but you can still hear the birds and wildlife that live within Los Angeles.

What is your favorite smell or taste in Los Angeles? My favorite smell is in the spring when the Jasmine and Honeysuckle bloom. The air, especially in the hills almost smells perfumed.

What drink best reflects Los Angeles? Los Angeles residents are very much into a healthy and green lifestyle, and you can get carrot juice at restaurants throughout the city.

What song or type of music best reflects Los Angeles? With so much cultural diversity in Los Angeles, it would be hard to really say that one type of music represents the music of Los Angeles, but we do have one of the most beautiful venues to see a musical acts perform, the Hollywood Bowl.

Hollywood Bowl: 2301 North Highland Avenue, just off the Hollywood Freeway
Please visit Hollywood Bowl for the current music schedule and parking suggestions.

If Heaven were Los Angeles, what would God say to a visitor when they arrive at the Pearly Gates? The entertainment industry is such an integral part of Los Angeles, it would have to be: “Are you ready for your close up?”
