Sananda Maitreya (the artist formerly known as Terence Trent D'Arby) is a Grammy Award winning artist, as well as an American Expatriate who has been enjoying life in Milan, Italy since 2002. In 1987, Sananda Maitreya’s most celebrated and commercial work The Hard Line According To Terence Trent D’Arby earned him a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance and yielded a Top 40 number one hit with “Wishing Well.” Today, Maitreya produces self-described “Post Millennium Rock, a music made by the heart of the artist for the spirit of the people, its nature is passion courage and curiosity.” In fact, June 2009 marked the jubilant release of his beautifully soulful and richly layered album Nigor Mortis.

What is your favorite outdoor activity in Milan?
Walking. Milano has some great parks: my favourite are Parco Sempione and Giardini Di Via Palestro. The two best things to do in Milano are: 1) to meditate (whether in the wonderful churches, galleries, parks or restaurants to meditate on food) and 2) to shop, the Via Montenapoleone area is well known, but I suggest also a walk to the Navigli area.

Coffee, I recommend the ‘Bar Bianco’ inside the Giardini di Via Palestro (ask for a Marocchino – which is a small version of a Cappuccino with chocolate ) or ‘Sant’Ambroeus’.
