Michelle Roark: Denver, Colorado
Michelle Roark, a 2006 and 2010 Olympic Freestyle Moguls Skier and 2009 US Nationals Moguls Champion, happily calls Denver, Colorado, at the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains, her hometown. Roark is nothing, if not a determined champion. Michelle Roark learned to ski in her brother's hand-me-down boots, when the high cost of figure skating forced her to try skiing. Michelle took quickly to the slopes, and won the 1990 US Junior Nationals. However, Roark’s skiing career has been plagued by injuries, challenging this athlete to fight her way back to the podium several times. While recovering, Michelle’s adventurous, entrepreneurial spirit took over once again. Michelle Roark earned a degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and then used her newly acquired skills to develop a natural perfume line, Phi-nomenal.
