April Rucker, R&B Singer and Songwriter, is a proud Nashville, Tennessee native. In fact, April was not only born into a musical family, but “pursued a formal education in music by enrolling in the acclaimed Nashville School of the Arts.” Over the years, April has developed into a prominent and respected solo artist and songwriter in Nashville’s renowned music scene. “The Songstress” has even “lent her soft, sweet soprano voice, with beautiful intensity and strength, to artists such as Grammy and AMA award winning artist Yolanda Adams and Big Kenny of the country chart topping duo Big & Rich.” Moreover, in 2009, April Rucker’s debut release Here I Stand was honored with the prestigious Nashville Music Award for Urban Recording of the Year.

Percy Priest Lake-no matter which end you go to the beauty of the lake is breathtaking, calming, and inspiring.

What is your favorite outdoor activity in Nashville? The African Street Festival held annually (September) on Tennessee State University’s campus. It’s a smorgasbord of live music across genres including Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Gospel, and more! There’s a plethora of food vendors serving fare from around the globe guaranteed to make your mouth water as you pass by each booth. There are great shopping ops too- artwork, handmade jewelry, men & women’s accessories and much more. I love earrings and it’s my favorite place to purchase inexpensive unique pieces.
What is your favorite indoor activity in Nashville?
Eating! I’m a foodie for sure. Whether I’m in the mood for southern comfort at Loveless Cafe (whose famous biscuits won a “Throwdown” with Bobby Flay on the Food Network) or ready to partake of a swanky evening of cocktails and gourmet cuisine at Sambuca, Nashville definitely has whatever strikes your fancy.

2nd Avenue where there’s always at least five different genres of music that can be heard echoing amidst all of the different venues.

Fresh cut grass in the summertime.
