Home Hotel: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hotel Home is a stylish boutique hotel located in the ultra hip neighborhood of “Palermo Hollywood” in Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital Buenos Aires. Catering to the young and the beautiful of BA, Home Hotel is the brainchild of British record producer Tom Rixton (Depeche Mode) and his wife, Patricia O'Shea – who realized “with friends flying in from all over the world to celebrate their wedding that there was a lack of suitable accommodations in Palermo.” Today, chic guests enjoy a thoroughly contemporary property with guest rooms featuring vintage French wallpaper and cozy furnishings, and suites and lofts complimented with Jacuzzis and picturesque balconies. However, Home Hotel is known for much more than cool hotel rooms. Resto-Bar features signature cocktails and delicious cuisine to rave about! Delightful spa treatments await at Spa Home, or simply lounge at the tranquil pool garden – where (if you’re lucky) you might catch Rixton and his DJ pals spinning some tunes.
Patricia O'Shea is the owner of Home Hotel. A native of Palermo, Patricia met Tom when she was studying and running her own PR Company in Ireland. The couple is proud to have created “Home, the hotel where our friends would like to stay.”

What is your favorite word to describe Buenos Aires? Buenos Aires is too large (in every sense) to describe in one word! BA is complex, hectic, laid back, energetic, egotistical, eclectic, unique and familiar - all at the same time. That’s what makes it special.
What word best reflects the people of Buenos Aires? "Porteños," as people from Buenos Aires are called, are as complex as their city. They may have an off-handed or aloof demeanor, but are warm and passionate. A porteño joke: How do porteños commit suicide? They throw themselves off their egos.
What is the most creative, spiritual or emotional place in Buenos Aires? It’s a tie between (the barrios of) San Telmo and Palermo. It’s a creative competition as to which area is the hippest and coolest. I feel Palermo has the edge.
What is your favorite outdoor activity in Buenos Aires?
Going to see the Superclasico Boca - River in La Bombonera. Not to be missed!
Played various dates during the year, Superclasico is known worldwide as one of football's (soccer) most competitive rivals - between the two the most popular and successful clubs in Argentine football, the Boca Juniors and River Plate.
Please visit Boca Juniors and River Plate for information on Superclasico and much more!
What is your favorite indoor activity in Buenos Aires? Sitting by the window in a cafe and watching the beautiful porteños walk by.
What is your favorite sound or noise in Buenos Aires?
My favorite noises are the cheers and horns when Boca Juniors scores against River Plate. The whole city jumps. My favorite sounds of the city are the birds that populate the many trees.
What is your favorite smell or taste in Buenos Aires?
My favorite smell is Argentine Beef on barbecues each Sunday.
What drink best reflects Buenos Aires?
A good Malbec.
Introduced from France in the 19th century, Argentine Malbec is characterized somewhere between a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, “but with softer structure, more like a uniquely identified New World Merlot.”
What song or type of music best reflects Buenos Aires?
Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre), by Gotan Project.
If Heaven were Buenos Aires, what would God say to a visitor when they arrive at the Pearly Gates? And you thought life was complex...
